From the peaks of the Cascade range to our east to the shores of the Pacific ocean to our west, Woodland's location on the banks of the Columbia and Lewis rivers provides a tranquil 'home base' point for area travelers.

    Woodland is ideally situated on Interstate 5 just 30 minutes north of the Portland Oregon Metro Area and provides an excellent launch point for day trips or area excursions. Local offerings include direct access to two National Parks, State Parks, a host of national an state historic sites, recreational activities and shopping.

    Some examples of activities available locally in the Woodland area;

    > Fisherman will enjoy a trip to the hometown headquarters of G.LOOMIS and Lamiglas, or experience excellent fishing on any of the local rivers or resevoirs.

    > History in Action? Visit the 1896 Grist Mill, the only still operating grain grinding mill in Washington State that has maintained its original structural integrity, grinds with stones and is water powered.

    > Trace Lewis and Clark's footsteps through southwestern Washington, which Captain Meriwether Lewis himself thought was "the most desirable location for a settlement west of the Rocky Mountains."

    > Visit the 'Ape Caves', two and a half miles of lava tubes thought by the early settlers to be the home of Sasquatch [Big Foot].

    Whatever the activity, Southwest Washington has adventures to satisfy everyone!
